Staghorn Fern - Platycerium
Item No: MES407
The Platycerium, common name Staghorn Fern and so named due as the "leaves" resemble the horns of a stag, is actually a tropical plant. Like many orchids, in the wild, it grows, happily, on the bark of tree trunks under the large canopy of of the leaves of the tree. This means the plant enjoys filtered light conditions; watering usually once a week from roughly mid-May- to late-September and then once every 20-25 days; ideal temperatures are a low of 50f to a high of 100f. This plant is ideal for our region of New Jerseyhanging outside under a tree or on a covered/very shady porch from Memorial Day until after Labor Day. Our Staghorn Fern are in an 8" diameter hanging basket and approx. 24" w x 24" h. The hanger can be removed if you want if in a ceramic cover pot for the basket. Note that the image shows the plant hanging from a metal hook - this is NOT included with the product
